What is Excedrin PM Express?

Acetaminophen is a pain reliever and a fever reducer. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine.

Excedrin PM Express is a combination medicine used to treat occasional sleeplessness related to minor aches and pains. Excedrin PM Express is not for use in treating sleeplessness without pain, or sleep problems that happen frequently.

Excedrin PM Express is also used to treat minor aches and pains such as headache, back pain, joint or muscle pain, tooth pain, or menstrual cramps.

Excedrin PM Express is also used to treat runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose and throat, and pain or fever caused by allergies, the common cold, or the flu.

Excedrin PM Express may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

How should I take Excedrin PM Express?

Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Excedrin PM Express is only for short-term use until your symptoms go away.

Do not take more of Excedrin PM Express than is recommended. An overdose of acetaminophen can harm your liver or cause death. Taking too much diphenhydramine can lead to serious heart issues, seizures, coma, or death.

Excedrin PM Express is not for anyone younger than 12 years old. Do not use this medicine to make a child sleepy. Misusing antihistamines in very young children can lead to death.

Do not use this medicine for longer than 2 weeks to treat sleep issues, or longer than 7 days to treat cold or allergy symptoms.

Call your doctor if you still have a fever after 3 days, or if you still have pain after 10 days (or 5 days if you are 12-17 years old). Also call your doctor if your symptoms get worse, or if you notice any redness or swelling.

If you need surgery or medical tests, inform the doctor ahead of time if you have taken this medicine in the past few days.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
