Uses for MenQuadfi

Meningococcal, tetanus toxoid conjugate quadrivalent vaccine is a medicine that helps prevent infections caused by specific types of meningococcal bacteria (Neisseria meningitides). It works by helping your body create its own defenses (antibodies) against the disease.

This vaccine protects against Groups A, C, W, and Y meningococcal bacteria only. It will not protect against infections caused by other groups of meningococcal bacteria, such as Group B.

Meningococcal infections can lead to serious illnesses, like meningococcal meningitis, which affects the brain, and meningococcemia, which affects the blood. Some people with meningococcal meningitis and/or meningococcemia may also die. These diseases are more likely to affect young children and individuals with certain health issues that make them more vulnerable to a meningococcal infection or more likely to have severe complications from it.

This vaccine must be given only by or under the supervision of your doctor.

Precautions while using MenQuadfi

Be sure to tell your doctor about any side effects you experience after getting this vaccine.

This vaccine can cause a serious allergic reaction called anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis can be life-threatening and needs immediate medical help. Contact your doctor right away if you have a rash, itching, swelling of the tongue and throat, or difficulty breathing after the injection.

Fainting (syncope) may happen after receiving this vaccine. Your doctor may want to watch you for a while after the injection to help prevent and manage fainting.

MenQuadfi™ may not protect everyone who receives it. This vaccine will not prevent tetanus and will not treat symptoms of meningococcal infection if you already have the disease.

Inform your doctor if you are using any medicine or treatment that weakens your immune system (for example, eculizumab). This vaccine may not work as effectively if you are taking these medicines.

It is important for your doctor to know about all other vaccines you or your child have received recently.
