Phenylephrine is a decongestant that reduces the size of blood vessels in the nasal passages. When blood vessels are enlarged, it can lead to nasal congestion (a stuffy nose).

Promethazine is an antihistamine that lessens the effects of the natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can cause symptoms like sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and a runny nose.

Promethazine VC Plain is a combination medicine that treats sneezing, a runny nose, watery eyes, hives, skin rash, itching, and other symptoms of colds or allergies.
